Sacred & Seen

Where Stories Meet, Identities Connect, and Every Voice is Sacred.

Lately, ducks have been showing up in my life in ways I can’t ignore. At first, I brushed it off as coincidence, but the more it happened, the more I felt like there was a message waiting for me if I slowed down enough to listen.

The first time was during a tarot reading. Out of all the possible images and archetypes, there they were—ducks. I noticed it, but didn’t think too much of it at the moment. A few days later, though, my son came running toward me with the biggest smile, holding out his little hands to give me a tiny toy duck. He didn’t know about the tarot cards, of course, but the timing stopped me in my tracks. It felt like Spirit was speaking through him, delivering the same message in a way I couldn’t ignore.

And then came the most undeniable moment: I was getting into my car one afternoon, weighed down with thoughts and emotions, when suddenly, a whole family of ducks walked right up to me as if they had chosen me specifically. They moved with such calm confidence, and I felt as though they were inviting me to pay attention, to really see.

That’s when I knew this wasn’t random. Spirit has a way of speaking to us through repetition—through signs in the natural world, through patterns that echo across our days, and sometimes through the people we love most.

As I reflected, I began to see what ducks were trying to tell me. Ducks are creatures of balance, at home in water, on land, and in the air. They move between worlds with grace and adaptability. Water often represents emotions, and ducks remind us not to drown in them, but to rise above, to float, to keep moving forward. They also symbolize protection and family—you only have to watch a mother duck with her ducklings to see fierce love in action.

That message touched me deeply as a mother. Right now, I’m in a season where I’m trying to keep a level head while navigating emotions that sometimes feel overwhelming. I’ve been doing my best to protect and guide my children while also caring for myself. Seeing my son hand me that little duck, not knowing the spiritual weight behind it, felt like confirmation: I am walking the right path, even when it feels heavy. My children, too, are part of the message—reminders of why I keep moving and who I keep moving for.

The ducks have become a mirror of where I am in my life: learning to stay grounded, to embrace resilience, and to trust that change is a natural part of the journey. Their presence has reminded me that even in the most trying seasons, I don’t have to force the current—I can trust it to carry me forward.

It made me think about how often we dismiss signs that repeat themselves in our lives. A number, an animal, a word that keeps coming up—sometimes these patterns are Spirit’s way of nudging us to notice that we are being guided.

For me, ducks have been a gentle but firm reminder that I am not alone, that my emotions don’t have to overwhelm me, and that love and protection—especially as a mother—are the strongest forces I carry.

So now I find myself asking: what other messages might I be overlooking? Where else is Spirit speaking, if I only slow down long enough to listen?

Have you ever had something keep showing up in your life—an animal, a number, a word—that felt like more than coincidence? What did it mean to you?

Affirmation: Like the duck, I move with grace through shifting waters, I honor my emotions without drowning in them, and I trust that Spirit is guiding me to calmer shores.
